1. Who We Are

DevMelDex provides privacy-first developer tools like diff checker, JSON formatter, and QR generator that run locally in your browser.

DevMelDex ("we," "us," "our") operates the website DevMelDex.com and provides free, browser-based developer tools. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with our services. Our approach is simple: we do not collect, store, or transmit the data you enter into our tools. Like any website, the services that host and protect the site process limited technical data when you visit it, as described below.

2. Our "Local-Only" Architecture

Every tool on DevMelDex operates entirely within your web browser. When you use our Diff Checker, QR Generator, JSON Formatter, Image Resizer, or any other tool, the data you input is processed by JavaScript running in your browser's sandboxed environment. No data entered into any tool is transmitted to our servers or any third-party server. We have no server-side processing, no databases storing user input, and no APIs that receive your tool data.

Technical implementation: Our tools use client-side JavaScript libraries (diff-match-patch, easyqrcodejs, @faker-js/faker) and browser APIs (Canvas API, FileReader API, Intl) that execute within your browser's security sandbox. One exception is inherent to what the tool does: the OG Previewer loads the image URL you enter, directly from that address, so it can display the preview. The site of that image can see the request, as with any image your browser loads.

3. Data Processed When You Visit the Site

We do not use Google Analytics, Google AdSense, advertising networks, or any advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The following providers process limited technical data so the site can be delivered and protected:

• Cloudflare (network, security and analytics): Requests to DevMelDex pass through Cloudflare, which processes technical request data such as your IP address, browser user agent, and the page requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare may run a script that checks for automated traffic and may set a security cookie (see Section 6). We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which records aggregate page-view and performance statistics (such as page, referrer, browser type, and load time). Cloudflare states that Web Analytics does not use cookies or local storage to track visitors. On our contact page, Cloudflare also protects email addresses from spam harvesters. • Vercel (hosting): The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes technical request data (such as IP address and request details) to serve pages and may keep short-term server logs. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
• localStorage: Some tools (UTM Builder) store history data in your browser's localStorage. This data is stored exclusively on your device, is never transmitted to any server, and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings or the tool's "Clear History" function.

We use this information only in aggregate to keep the site available and secure and to understand which pages are used. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to build profiles of individual visitors.

4. GDPR Compliance (EU & UK)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR) and the UK GDPR (as retained by the Data Protection Act 2018), data controllers must establish a lawful basis for processing personal data. Because our tools do not process personal data on our servers, most GDPR obligations relating to data processing do not apply to tool usage.

For the limited technical data processed by Cloudflare and Vercel when you visit the site:

• Lawful Basis: Our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) in delivering the site, keeping it secure, and understanding aggregate usage.
• Your Rights: You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and object to processing. Because we do not store tool data or maintain visitor profiles, we generally hold no personal data about you. For any data questions directed at DevMelDex, contact us at [email protected].
• Data Protection Officer: Given the minimal nature of our data processing, we have not appointed a formal DPO. Privacy inquiries may be directed to [email protected].

5. CCPA Compliance (California, USA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and its amendment, the CPRA:

• We do not sell personal information as defined under CCPA.
• We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
• California residents may exercise their right to know and delete by contacting [email protected].
• We do not discriminate against consumers who exercise their CCPA rights.

6. Cookies

We do not set advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies. The only cookie you may receive is set by Cloudflare for security:

• cf_clearance (Cloudflare, strictly necessary): records that your browser passed Cloudflare's automated-traffic check so you are not challenged again. It is not used for analytics or advertising.

Tools function identically whether or not this cookie is set. You can clear this site's data (cookies and local storage) at any time in your browser settings.

7. Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed at children under 13 (US, per COPPA) or under 13 (UK, per the Age Appropriate Design Code). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. International Data Transfers

As our tools do not transmit user data, no international transfers of personal data occur through tool usage. Cloudflare and Vercel operate global networks, so the technical request data described in Section 3 may be processed in countries other than your own, under those providers' data processing terms.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
